All these questions got me thinking about how anyone would know the stories of my quilts when I am gone.
So I decided to make a quilt journal!

I got a couple of folders (fantastic red fabric covered ones) . . . and started documenting!

I've got the story of my quilting journey . . .

And I've got the details of each of the quilts that I've made . . .

I have the usual details - the quilt name, the pattern name, who made it, who quilted it. I also document the block sizes, the fabrics used and when the quilt was made. I have a photo of the quilt and often some fabric samples, too.

Then the story really begins . . . the story of what inspired me - maybe a special occasion . . . maybe an irresistible fabric . . . maybe a weekend quilt retreat . . .
Whatever the story of the quilt, no matter how special or how plain, I'd like the people who use my quilts generations from now to know a little about the quilts . . . and a little about me!

In your world, do you document your creations?

Oh Sue, your books are just beautiful! I love the tags hanging out over the covers and everything you have shown! I made a Leanne Beasely one a few years ago (an instructional DVD came with a magazine) but it was more in the scrapbooking style. I enjoyed doing it but spent a lot of money on scrapbooking stuff and hadn't really even scratched the surface with supplies for that craft. I decided that I wouldn't delve any further into scrapbooking because it didn't leave enough for quilting. I love the style of yours though and I am sure I will be pondering over it the next few weeks.
Fantastic quilt journals. Well done Sue. I'm giving you big congratulations for staring the journals. I have been wanting to do them too, but my quilts got started too quickly and they never give me time to journals. I do have very good labels I attached to each of my finished quilts. Hugs Natima
No I don't but after seeing your beautiful books I think I should start, what a great idea.
I don't do this though I do label my quilts with a fair few details. It is a wonderful idea and you have done a lovely job. Well done.
What a fabulous idea! These are terrific!
